There will be a panel of experts in emergency preparedness to discuss recent emergencies, lessons learned, and ways to eliminate or minimize the impact of these types of disaster events on the API populations and communities. The panel will examine issues such as special vulnerabilities of certain communities, coordination between the groups and with Federal agencies, barriers to the effective prevention of disaster effects, such as the lack of information, language access, among others, and the particular impact of coastal ecology on emergency events.

Dietary supplements (DS) as defined in the 1994 federal law (Dietary Supplement Health and Education Act; DHSEA) includes vitamins, minerals, herbals, amino acids, and their derivatives. Per DHSEA, DS cannot make claims to treat or cure a disease except make structure/function claims with FDA notification. Dietary supplements could adversely affect the effectiveness of routine medications taken and caution is recommended as a public health measure.
