Theme: Diverse Leadership for a Diverse Workforce

News Description : HOUSTON – The Federal Asian Pacific American Council (FAPAC), the premier organization representing Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) employees in the Federal and District of Columbia governments, will hold its 25th National Leadership Training Conference on May 3 – 7, 2010 at the Gaylord Resort & Conference Center at the National Harbor, MD overlooking Washington, DC. The Conference has been in the past approved by the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) as appropriate for training for federal employees. With its members representing all the major federal agencies it is the largest conference of its kind catering to the Asian Pacific American employees, both military and civilian, throughout the Federal government.

This year’s theme, “Diverse Leadership for a Diverse Workforce” speaks loudly about the changing demographics in the 21st century work place. FAPAC, with a heritage that spans the Asian continent and the Pacific, represents the community at large and is at the forefront on issues relating to the diversity in America. The conference will feature plenary sessions addressing issues on APA women and the newly renewal of the White House Initiatives for Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders (AAPI) by President Obama.

In addition to the plenary, the conference is a great opportunity for professional and personal development through the many workshops in communications, career development, leadership, management and retirement. There will also be workshops for young professionals and health issues relating to AAPI. Many agencies will have exhibits with information on their programs and job opportunities. Other session will be on critical issues FAPAC embarks on its second quarter of century of service to the AAPI community.

FAPAC is organized exclusively for educational purposes within the meaning of Section 501 (c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code. FAPAC is a non-profit, non-partisan organization representing the interests of over 155,000 civilian and military APA employees in the Federal and District of Columbia governments.

Dr. Kin Wong, the Conference Committee Chair, and Lily Ho, Conference Co-Chair, are working hard to ensure the success of the conference. For more information on the conference including sponsorship, exhibits, FAPAC Scholarships/Internships and Awards visit the conference page on www.fapac.org.
