FAPAC SUPPORTS PRESIDENTIAL EXECUTIVE ORDER ON DIVERSITY & INCLUSION

October 18, 2011 07:42 | FAPAC National

WASHINGTON DC - FAPAC applauded President Obama for signing a new Executive Order (E.O.) on Diversity & Inclusion on August 18 to promote diversity and inclusion in the federal government. The administration has been concerned about the lack of diversity in several areas of the federal government and the lack of consistent guidance and oversight from the Office of Personnel Management.

Dr. Kin Wong, President of FAPAC, recognized the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) for its renewed efforts under the Director, John Berry, leading to the signing of the E.O.  FAPAC, along with its coalition partners under the National Coalition for Equity in Public Service (NCEPS), have worked with OPM to address these issues and called for the E. O.

Of particular concern to FAPAC has been the serious lack of diversity in the Senior Executive Service.  FAPAC will continue to work with OPM to help develop the guidance necessary to implement the requirement of the E.O.

The EO may be found at http://www.whitehouse.gov/the-press-office/2011/08/18/executive-order-establishing-coordinated-government-wide-initiative-prom.
